How a 52-Year-old Turned His Life Around and Beat Diabetes

Prince, 52, found out he had diabetes while getting surgery for another condition. He tried many things to manage it, like natural remedies, but his weight still went up to 103 kg, and his HbA1c was at 11.3.

  • Deep breathing exercises and Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR), for a calmer mind and better sleep.
  • Education on sugar level fluctuations and monitoring, for clarity and reducing his diet-related worries.
  • Positive affirmations, which boosted his self-esteem.

The result? He saw a huge improvement in his mood and anxiety levels, feeling more in control and positive about his well-being. This journey showed him that overcoming challenges with the right support is possible.

3. Physiotherapy Intervention

Since 2017, Prince had been dealing with shoulder pain from a gym injury, complicating his physical activities. In 2020, the situation worsened as he faced increasing weight and blood sugar levels, leading to fatigue after work.

His physio coach crafted a plan to tackle all this:

  • Mixed Exercises: Focused on cardio, strength, and flexibility to improve fitness.
  • Pain Management: Ergonomic postures and exercises specifically for his shoulder pain, which significantly improved in two weeks.
  • Interval Walking: Alternating brisk and normal-paced walking to boost heart rate and energy use.
  • HIIT: High-intensity interval training aimed at achieving a specific heart rate to lower HbA1c levels.

With such a focused fitness intervention plan, Prince lost an amazing 19 kgs weight in just 6 months, got stronger with more exercise, and felt a huge boost in energy and motivation.
