Modern approaches in digital therapeutics, including smartphone apps, AI-driven chatbots, smart gadgets, telemedicine, and online communities, are driving a paradigm shift in diabetes care.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Diabetes Management Beyond Sugar Tracking<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the diabetes management landscape, technological advancements are expanding beyond traditional blood sugar monitoring.\u00a0 This transformation addresses the comprehensive needs of individuals living with this multifaceted metabolic condition. The latest treatment practices now encompass a broader spectrum of health concerns crucial to <\/span>diabetes management: sleep<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and mental well-being, beyond merely tracking glucose levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By harnessing the power of technology to encompass the broader facets of health, individuals with diabetes can access a holistic approach to self-care. It would enhance patients\u2019 ability to manage diabetes effectively and improve their quality of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Sleep Tracking: A Critical Component of Diabetes Care<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Sleep tracking among diabetes<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> patients is a critical component of care, as poor sleep quality can disrupt glucose levels and insulin sensitivity. By optimising sleep hygiene through targeted lifestyle changes and interventions, individuals can improve sleep quality and enhance overall diabetes management.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">\n<h3><b>Inadequate Sleep and Diabetes Risk<\/b><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a Chinese cohort, individuals <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s13410-021-00932-w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sleeping less than 8 hours are at a higher risk of developing T2DM<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and a risk score incorporating sleep duration was generated. They track multiple biosignals, such as heart rate and its variability, skin conductance, temperature, and motion, to infer sleep behaviour.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By understanding <\/span>sleep patterns among diabetes <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">patients, it is possible to make targeted lifestyle changes to improve sleep hygiene, such as establishing a consistent sleep schedule, creating a calming bedtime routine, and optimising their sleep environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Impact of Mental Health Support in Diabetes Care<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a bidirectional relationship between <\/span>mental health and diabetes<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Anderson et al. reviewed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/diabetesjournals.org\/care\/article\/24\/6\/1069\/22483\/The-Prevalence-of-Comorbid-Depression-in-Adults\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">39 studies with a sample size of 20,218 subjects<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to put forward that candidates living with diabetes manifest a twofold chance of developing depression than that of the nondiabetic comparison group.
