Moreover, Eastern European countries demonstrate the maximum age-standardised total CVD deaths at 553 deaths per 100,000, whereas Australia registered the minimum age-standardised total CVD mortality at 122.5 deaths per 100,000 individuals. The report further pointed out that ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of <\/span>cardiovascular disease <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mortality at 108.8 deaths per 100,000 people.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Role of DTx in Cardiovascular Disease Management<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sepah et al.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pioneered the concept of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jmir.org\/2015\/4\/e92\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cdigital therapeutics\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in their peer-reviewed publication and formally defined it as \u201cevidence-based behavioral treatments delivered online that can increase accessibility and effectiveness of healthcare.\u201d Physicians may prescribe DTx interventions independently or in combination with medications, devices, or other therapies to optimise patient care and health outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The role of digital therapeutics in<\/span> cardiovascular diseases<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CVD) is multifaceted, as it offers personalised interventions tailored to individual patient needs and real-time data collection and analysis to facilitate remote monitoring. These interventions are expected to control blood pressure, manage dyslipidemia, and reduce atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk. They prompt healthcare professionals to mediate promptly when necessary, potentially reducing the risk of cardiovascular events and improving outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>AHA\u2019s Life\u2019s Essential 8 Checklist<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart.org\/en\/healthy-living\/healthy-lifestyle\/lifes-essential-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Heart Association <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recommends 8 crucial measures for improving and maintaining cardiovascular health. For example, according to American health statistics, the optimal BMI ranges between 18.5 kg\/m<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and 24.9 kg\/m<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, in the Indian scenario, a BMI level above 23 kg\/m<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is considered obese.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Scope of DTx in Improving Heart Patient Outcomes<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DTx holds a promising role in improving cardiac patient outcomes by leveraging technology to deliver personalised and effective interventions. DTx solutions facilitate remote patient monitoring, reducing the need for frequent hospital visits while ensuring continuous care and early detection of complications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A review by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xiu Zhang et al. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the efficiency and safety of DTx\u2010based cardiac rehabilitation among heart failure patients pointed out that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9773765\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">adherence to treatment, exercise capacity and quality of life in heart failure patients improved significantly f<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ollowing the program. Researchers shortlisted 5 studies for the review work, including 1119 candidates with a mean age of 66.37 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another study by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Balbir Singh et al. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC10755686\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> needs and benefits of DTx for heart failure management in India<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> indicated that it can help in the seamless monitoring of patient vitals and can intervene to assist and guide patients during emergencies.
